Engagement in altercations while on duty, in uniform, or in any activity in which the Department is represented shall be cause for disciplinary action.

Members shall not disobey any lawful order issued by a superior officer or speak disrespectfully to other members.

Members shall not have direct or indirect financial interest in any business involving the filling, refilling, or repairing of fire extinguishers or the manufacture of fire extinguisher components.

Members shall not have direct or indirect financial interest in any business involving then installation or testing of fire extinguishing systems.

Members shall not engage in any business transaction or activity or have direct or indirect financial interest which is incompatible with the proper discharge of such person’s official duties or may tend to impair the independence of judgment in the performance of such person’s duties.

Members shall not accept a reward, fee, or valuable gift from any person for services incident to the performance of duty, except with permission from the Fire Chief.

Members shall not gamble in quarters, on details, or while on duty. This covers all types of gambling, including placing bets with bookmakers by telephone. Use of the telephone for this purpose shall be cause for disciplinary action. Access to the stations by bookmakers shall be prohibited. Officers shall be held responsible for bookmakers found on their station premises.

Members shall participate in drills and Departmental training as directed; be thoroughly familiar with all equipment they may be required to use in the full performance of their duty; and perform related work as required.

Members shall respond to all incidents to which they are assigned, detailed, or summoned and exert their greatest energy and best ability to perform their full duty.

Members shall be subject to recall to cope with emergencies and other functions related to fire fighting services as requested by the Fire Chief. Failure to comply shall be cause for disciplinary action.

Members shall be ready to perform their duties and shall not absent themselves from duty or place of assignment without specific permission from their superior officer. Unexcused or excessive absenteeism shall be cause for disciplinary action.

Members shall instruct those designated to act in their place and satisfy themselves that the relief members are capable of performing the duties to which they are assigned.
