Segment 1

A

Segment 1 starts at the screen height, 35ft above reference zero at V2 and ends when the gear retraction is complete.

Segment 2

A

Segment 2 is flown at V2 to 400ft gross, the minimum acceleration altitude, called HAby some airlines. (It can be higher provided Segment 3 is completed within the time limitation for maximum take-off thrust.

Gear is up
Flaps at T/O postion.
Operative engines at T/O thrust
Speed V2

Segment 3

A

Segment 3 is flown level, accelerating and retracting flap on schedule to VFTO, the final take-off speed which cannot be less than 1.18 VSR or a safe manoeuvering speed.

A

At this point MCT is set and segment 4 is from 400ft, (min HA) to 1500ft where the aircraft is said to be en-route.
