DSM 5 definition of mental disorder
clinically significant behavioral ir psychological syndrome that occurs in an individual and that is associated with present distress or disability

persistent disturbance or dysfunction in behavior, thoughts, or emotions that causes significant distress or impairment
medical model
approach that conceptualizes abnormal psychological experiences as illnesses that, like physical illnesses, have biological and environmental causes, defined symptoms, and possible cures

bulimia: eating a fuck ton without controll. tries to compensate by puking and laxatives. self evaluation heavily influenced by body shape and weight
binge: eating a fuck ton without control. NO COMPENSATORY BEHAVIOR. eats fast, feels guilty, eats till grossly full
