Outside indicators
- Chemical odour
- Exhaust fans running at odd times
- Frequent victoires at off hours

Inside Indicators
- Lab glassware, equipment and documents
- Containers with clear liquids in them with chalky coloured solid on the bottom or similar
- Containers with two layered liquids on them. One dark and one clear or pale yellow
- Used coffee filters with either white pasty and reddish brown substance
- Baking dishes
- Hot plates
Unplanned entry
Clan lab discovered during the course of normal day to day duties.
Know what initial action has been taken between club lab discovery and until the National Clan Lab Response Team are deployed.
Safety considerations
- Leave asap, your safety is paramount
- Never touch, smell or taste any chemicals or equipment
- Dont attempt to stop any chemical reactions. The simple act of turning on an electrical switch may cause an explosion
- Dont shit off water supply
- Dont smoke
- Dont use tool, radios or cell phones that could produce sparks or friction
- Dont reenter
Symptoms following exposure
- Headache
- Watery or burning eyes
- Nausea
- Burning skin
- Coughing or choking
Planned entry
Have knowledge of the suspected Clan Lab.
Can apply for a SW - must consult with the clan lab response team before executing
Three processes or stages relating to clan labs
Extraction
Conversion
Synthesis
- all three can be found at a clan lab site but this may not always be the case
Factors to consider in a planned entry to clan labs
- Firearms/weapons/booby traps
- The number and nature of offenders or others present in the lab
- Proximity to persons or property
- Whether it is an active or inactive lab
- The laboratory location
- The type and size of lab
Must do when a C/Y located at clan labs - initial action
Remove the C/Y from the immediate scene
Assign an officer to look after and monitor the C/Y
Photo child
Assessment of the C/Y by ambulance staff fir injury/illness or respiratory distress
Record the physical condition of the C/Y including any injuries
Record the mental state of the C/Y
90 Second Rule
The rule assumes that if offenders are present and moving inside the lab, then the atmosphere will sustain life.
It assumes that the initial entry team wearing minimum PPE may safety enter and extract suspects for a period of up to 90 seconds.

Any member of the initial entry team or any member of staff
