What is a ‘prognostic factor’ ?
A
A marker that predicts the prognosis of a patient –> so any measure that is associated with a subsequent endpoint

When is a biomarker ‘prognostic’ ?

When it informs about an outcome INDEPENDENT of treatment received

When is a biomarker ‘predictive’ ?
A
When the treatment effect is different for biomarker-positive patients compared to biomarker-negative patients

Minimum of 10 subjects/events per coefficient
