- Very heavily agriculture (great temp. for crops, good soil, perfect environment)

What was the difference between Federal Rights and State Rights?
Federal Rights are rights that are associated with the whole country. States rights are rights associated with individual states.
What was the Missouri Compromise?
- A compromise to keep power between free and slave states equal.
- Maine and Missouri were the states that would keep the power equal and balanced.
- Was deciding to be a confederate state or a union state
What is Federalism?
The system between the National and state governments
What does secede mean?
To separate
Who was the first state to secede and why?
South Carolina was the first state to secede because they didn’t want slavery abolished and Lincoln was going to become President.

Where does most of the war take place?
In the south and also the North (Gettysburg PA)
What were the North’s Advantages?
- More weapons/ammunition manufactured there
- More people (22 million)
- Railroads
- More Factories
What were some of the South’s advantages?
- Supplies were close
- Home Field advantage (they know the land)
- More fight to protect their land
- Superior generals and soldiers
- England supplying weapons for cotton
Why did Lincoln win the Presidency?
He won because of the electoral vote, not because of the popular vote
What did the Confederacy Constitution do?
It claimed slavery legal

Fort Sumter, South Carolina
What was the Battle of Antietam?
- Happened in the southern states
- Bloodiest Battle DAY in history
- 23,000 men lost their lives that day.
- The Union won that battle
