What causes the Civil War?

- Uncle Tom’s Cabin(Anti-Slavery)
- Slavery and Anti-Slavery come to Nebraska and Kansas territories.
- Most Famous Event: Bleeding Kansas
inspired John Brown and his sons
Pottawatomie Creek and murdered five pro-slavery men in the middle of the night
Pottawatomie Creek Killings - Dred Scott (he believes he is a free man because his master was in the free state, but the government said he is not, this is a favor to the South)
- 1858 Lincoln vs Douglas, Lincoln won
- On February 4th, 1861, the Confederate States of America was formed, with Jefferson Davis as its President. Losing its territorial integrity, Union called out the fight.

The outcome of Civil War.
A
- America become a unified country with a stronger federal government.
- Three Constitutional Amendments were made to abolish slavery and to grant citizenship and voting right to African Americans.
- Slavery was officially abolished on December 6, 1865
- the war also resulted in 620,000 casualties along with property loss
- Abraham Lincoln was assasinated by a pro-slavery man on April 14, 1865
