  2. Slavery and Anti-Slavery come to Nebraska and Kansas territories.
  3. Most Famous Event: Bleeding Kansas
    inspired John Brown and his sons
    Pottawatomie Creek and murdered five pro-slavery men in the middle of the night
    Pottawatomie Creek Killings
  4. Dred Scott (he believes he is a free man because his master was in the free state, but the government said he is not, this is a favor to the South)
  5. 1858 Lincoln vs Douglas, Lincoln won
  6. On February 4th, 1861, the Confederate States of America was formed, with Jefferson Davis as its President. Losing its territorial integrity, Union called out the fight.

The outcome of Civil War.

  1. America become a unified country with a stronger federal government.
  2. Three Constitutional Amendments were made to abolish slavery and to grant citizenship and voting right to African Americans.
  3. Slavery was officially abolished on December 6, 1865
  4. the war also resulted in 620,000 casualties along with property loss
  5. Abraham Lincoln was assasinated by a pro-slavery man on April 14, 1865
