Missouri Compromise

A

Missouri joins the Union as a SLAVE state
Maine joins the Union as a FREE state to preserve the balance.
The 36 30’ line of latitude is established as the line to show where slavery will and will not be allowed in the new Western Territories.

The Compromise 1850

A

Helped postpone hostilities between the regions however, it pushed people who were trying to remain in the middle onto the sidelines by forcing them to participate in slavery.
Strengthened the Fugitive Slave Act which required Northerners to return escaped slaves to their owners.

Kansas Nebraska Act

A

Nebraska Act of 1854 which allowed the settlers in the 2 territories to decide the issue of slavery by popular sovereignty.Violence waged for 5 years and eventually left 56 dead. Both territories ended up deciding to forbid slavery.

Fort Sumter 1861

A

South Carolina left= they questioned federal forts. After that no more people were able to leave the Union or send any resources. April 12, 1861 they put in on fire. It was the start of the Civil War.

Bull Run/Manassas July 21, 1862

A

The North Army was trying to go to the capital of Richmond,Virginia with their General Trvin McDonnell, but after 25miles the battle of First Bull Run started. The South Army was run by P.G.T. Beauregard and ended up winning.

Antidam September 17th, 1862

A

On September 17th, the South headed North with their general. The general made a plan to make two South Armies. One went to Maryland with resources, well the other group went to Pennsylvania with a bad plan on their part to get control over Washington D.C. After 18hours pasted, the North confronted them with their General. In a cause of this president Abraham Lincoln got mad because the South was able to get back up during the time that the Northern’s General gave them. This battle ended with 23,000 deaths.

Vicksburg May 22 to July 4th, 1863

A

Both North and South wanted control over Mississippi, but the South got there first with weapons. Even though the South were more ready to fight than the North, the North still won because by mid June the South started to get low on their resources.

Shiloh April 6 to 7th, 1862

A

On February 1862, the North won the central of Kentucky and Tennessee. The North also went South for the Mississippi’s and to support their Generals. They got there April 6th, but the Southerns showed up overnight. In the end though the Northerns got the Mississippi’s railroads and won.

A

both Armies got to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on July 1st, 1863. The South’s new plan failed. the North won, but the South still got to keep their research.

A

Less cotton than South and smaller amount of crops coming from plantations.
Slaves in South allowed more citizen to become soldiers.
The South has more soldiers and better generals.
