freedoms guaranteed to individuals in the U.S. Constitution’s Bill of Rights; these liberties stop government from taking actions, thus protecting individual choices; proscriptions, or limits, on government’s power
civil liberties
how do civil “right” and “liberties differ”
believe that the government is supposed to be doing something, then it is a right. If citizens believe that the government is supposed to leave them alone, then it is a liberty.
