What is Step one of Civil procedure?
A
The Claimant completes a claim form.
- Includes names, addresses of the parties, and brief details of the claim and the value of the claim.
- Purpose is to establish the fee payable and the choice of court

What is Step two of Civil procedure?
A
The claim is served on the defendant.
- They are required to respond within 14 days.
- He must either file with the court an admission, a defence or an acknowledgement of service.
- If the defendant fails to do so, the claimant can file for a default Judgment and in effect win the case.

What is Step three of Civil procedure?
A
- If a defence is filed, the court will send to both the claimant and the defendant an allocation questionnaire.
- Once completed a District Judge will allocate the case to an appropriate track. This is known as Case management.
- The Judge will control the timetable of the case which should be dealt with in a reasonable period of time.

A
The Court will fix a date for a trial.
