A crime in which physical contact occurs, as with a weapon or a foot
Battery
Placing someone in fear without actual physical contact
Assault
When a person breaks into a building plans to do something illegal inside
Burglary
Stealing money that has been interested in your care
Embezzlement
The betrayal of one’s country by helping at enemies are they making war against it
Treason
A crime in which people or groups of people use, or say they will use, violence in order to get what they want from the government or society
Terrorism
A good reason to believe a suspect has been involved in a crime
Probable cause
A legal paper, issued by the court, getting a police permission to make an arrest, seizure, or search
Warrant
Money that a defendant gives the court as a kind of promised that he or she will return for trial
Bail
A formal charge against the accused-or refuse to indict
Indictment
A court hearing in which the defendant is formally charged with a crime and enters a plea of guilty, not guilty, or no contest
Arraignment
Agreeing to plead guilty in exchange for lesser charge or a lighter sentence
Plea-bargaining
Letting a defendant make a plea so they are free to serve the rest of his or her sentence outside of prison
Parole
Juvenile who is found guilty of a crime
Delinquent
A youth who is found guilty of of acts such as running away disobedience or truancy, technically not crimes
Status offender
