What is federalism?
When power is shared between the national and state levels of government.
What are the three branches of govt?
Executive, legislative and judicial.
What does the executive branch do?
Consists of the president and government departments. It enforces the laws.
What does the legislative branch do?
Consists of two houses: the Senate and House of Representatives. Responsible for making laws.
What does the judicial branch do?
Made up of all the federal court system. They decide and dispute related to laws.
Who are constituents?
The people who elect their leaders.
How long can a president serve?
Two terms of four years.
How long can a representative serve?
Two years but can be reelected unlimited times.
How long can a senator serve?
Six years and can be reelected unlimited times.
What is the system that gives each branch of government equal power?
Checks and balances.
What is the preamble?
The intro to the Constitution. It’s a set of goals for our nation.
