City Flashcards
Can you describe the town where you grew up?
1) I live in Qaemshahr a relatively small city in the north of Iran. In fact, I was born and raised here, and still live in the same town. It is located between two of the largest cities in the north so we have easy access to all the main facilities. natural rivers and dense forests on the outskirts of the town make it a destination for many passengers from all over the country.
tourist-friendly.
(but the importance of this city is because most of the major roads leading to the capital pass through this town.)
What do you like least about your hometown?
2) The thing that I don’t like about My hometown is that it’s a small city and this means fewer job opportunities, especially for young people which makes progress in their career path difficult and long.
So they leave their hometown to look for job positions in other cities.
dealing with the slow pace of life which is boring, especially for young people.
however, the thing that I Iike least is the lack of job opportunities which makes progress in our career path difficult and long.
What do people do in their free time in your city?
3) (it is important to make a balance between work and leisure time.)
Recreational activities motivate people to work much better. people in my city spend their free time going on picnics in the countryside or doing fun activities such as going to movies and hanging out in a coffee.
What do tourists visit when they come to your city?
4) the city where I live is not considered a tourist attraction but there are a couple of ancient buildings that have been the destination for passengers however dense forests, rivers, and waterfalls attract the most tourists in my town.
Describe a city you visited and liked.
I would like to describe my visit to shiraz. located in south of Iran , shiraz is famous for its historical buildings , good weather , and beautiful gardens.
I visited shiraz last spring, during new year holiday. The city was filled with the crowd of tourists but still beautiful. Local traditions and food and celebrations made me feel connected with the people . I loved the
cultural richness, and the way shiraz has preserved its historical integrity while also embracing the present.
What influenced me the most was the sense of tranquility and harmony I felt in the city. The architecture , gardens, and local festivals allowed me to see a unique part of Persian culture, leaving me inspired and enriched.
Describe a city you would like to visit.
Actually, I have a list of cities I want to visit but if you ask me about one city, it would be Rome the current capital of Italy, and one of the oldest and biggest cities in the world. Although there are varying reasons to visit this city, but the main reason is the unique and magnificent ancient architecture?of the city like the Vatican City, the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the Arch of Constantine which is the symbol of the city. Besides the architecture Italian culture itself has a lot to offer like the La Quintana and Historic Regatta festivals which are held every summer.
How could your town/city be improved?
Part 3:
1) I believe small actions can lead to big improvements and if everybody does just one little thing, our city will become a nicer place to live in. We can start by volunteering for environmental matters such as helping Street animals, separating recyclable waste, or even planting a tree.
Do people in your city use public transport?
2) no not really. with the growth of population in cities urban transportation services have become an essential part of each city however the public transport system in my town is inefficient and inconvenient so people are very dependent on their cars to get around.
Why do people prefer to live in big cities?
People who choose to live in a large city are drawn to the quality of life that a big city can offer like Improved public transportation, job options, and easy access to shops and facilities. I believe Living in big cities increases the chance of success because of all the extra opportunities.
What is the biggest problem that people living in big cities usually face?
In recent years, there have been a number of everyday problems that people in big cities have to cope with. This essay will discuss two major problems, pollution and information overload, which I believe should lead governments to encourage people to move to regional areas.
These days, increased levels of pollution have been a great cause for concern among residents of big cities. Due to high volumes of traffic, large quantities of pollutants are being released into the atmosphere, causing the degradation of air quality, which is said to be a significant contributor to various types of respiratory disease, such as lung cancer. Additionally, people in big cities are being bombarded with too much information from the media, including TV, social media, and advertising, with a large proportion of this information being fake or exaggerated. This can lead to confusion or, in some cases, social anarchy.
Why do some people prefer to live in a big city?
Some people choose to live in a metropolis because of the advantages it can offer.
First of all, there are more job opportunities in large cities because of their high population density. For example, restaurants require more employees to serve their customers and hospitals hire more workers to meet the needs of the city. The next benefit is better facilities such as private schools, modern hospitals, and advanced public transport systems. Which improves the quality of life for citizens.
What problems do people usually face when they live in big cities?
Citizens of large cities have to deal with some everyday issues in their lives.
To begin with, one of the major problems is traffic jams. Due to the increase in vehicle density, rush hours have become a nightmare for many commuters as they have to spend more time on transportation.
Then there is an increased level of air pollution as a result of high volumes of traffic and the large number of industrial zones near these cities which raise the rate of lung cancer among the residents of metropolises.
