What is the freedom of religion
The rights to practice any faith if any, Government can’t endorse religion. Must respect other peoples beliefs
What is the freedom of assembly
The rights to express used through peaceful gathering
What is the freedom of press
To criticize in print form but cannot endanger or threat national security
What is the freedom of petition
Right to ask government to correct a problem may not use violence or threats
What is the freedom of speech
Protects every other right, includes expression and symbols cannot use speech to endanger others
How does the 14th amendment affect citizenship
All people born in the United States no matter what race are equal citizens
How does the 14th amendment provide equal protection
It uses due process and make sure is that state laws are applied to citizens of United States equally
What are the duties of citizens
- obey the law
- Pay taxes
- serve in the Armed Forces if called upon
- serve on a jury or a witness in court
- go to school
What are the responsibilities of citizens
Register and vote, hold elective office, influence the government by communicating with government officials, volunteer, serve in appointed positions, participate in political campaigns, keep informed about current events, respect each other’s rights to freedom of expression and an equal voice in government
