circulatory system Flashcards
right atrium
receives deoxygenated blood from body tissues
left atrium
receives oxygenated blood from lungs
right ventricle
pumps deoxygenated blood to lungs
left ventricles
pumps oxygenated blood to body tissues
aortic arch
carry oxygenated blood from left ventricle and supply it to body tissues
pulmonary arch
carry deoxygenated blood and to lungs
pulmonary vein
carry oxygenated blood from lungs to left atrium
superior vena cava
returns deoxygenated blood to right atrium from head and upper body tissues
inferior vena cava
returns deoxygenated blood to right atrium from lower body tissues
coronary artery
supplies oxygenated blood to heart walls
coronary vein (sinus)
carry deoxygenated blood from heart wall to right atrium
tricuspid valve
prevent blood back flow into right atrium from right ventricle
bicuspid valve
prevent blood back flow into left atrium when left ventricles contracts
pulmonary semilunar valve
prevent blood back flow from flowing back into right ventricle
aortic semilunar valve
prevent blood back flow from flowing back into left ventricle
