Circulatory system Flashcards
What is Circulatory system?
transports nutrients and oxygen to the body
How does blood travel through the circulatory system
Systemic circulation carries oxygenated blood from the left ventricle, through the arteries, to the capillaries in the tissues of the body. From the tissue capillaries, the deoxygenated blood returns through a system of veins to the right atrium of the heart.
What type of circulatory system is the human circulatory system?
Other animals. While humans, as well as other vertebrates, have a closed cardiovascular system (meaning that the blood never leaves the network of arteries, veins and capillaries), some invertebrate groups have an open cardiovascular system.
