Circulatory System Flashcards
What is the circulatory system comprised of?
Heart, blood, pipes
Function of the circulatory system?
Circulates blood around the body
Delivers oxygen to cells
Removes carbon dioxide from cells
Delivers nutrients to cells
Function of the left side of the heart
Pumps oxygenated blood around the body
Function of the right side of the heart?
Revives deoxygenated blood from the body
Structure of the aorta
Takes oxygenated blood to the body
Function of the pulmonary arteries
Takes deoxygenated blood to the lungs
Function Right atrium
Receives blood that has been around the body
Function of the left atrium?
Receives flood from the lungs and pushes it into the left ventricle
Function right ventricle?
Pumps blood into the lung
Function of the left ventricle
Pumps blood to all parts of the body (except lungs)
Function of Bicuspid valves
Permits blood to flow one way, from the left atrium into the left ventricle
Function of the tricuspid valve
Prevents the back flow of blood into the right atrium
Pulmonary veins
Brings oxygenated blood to the heart from the lungs
