Circulatory/cardiovascular System Flashcards
What are the 3 layers of the heart (+sac) ?
Endocardium (inner), myocardium (muscular), and epicardium (outer).
The sac is called pericardium.
Function of the left pump (heart):
Receives oxygenated blood from lungs to send to the body. (Strongest pump)
Function of the right pump (heart):
Receives deoxygenated blood from body and sends it to the lungs to drop off co2 and pick up o2 before going to the left heart.
Septal wall:
Divides the heart into left and right
Atria
Two upper chambers of the heart where blood returns and pumps blood into the ventricles
Ventricles
Lower chambers which send out blood to lungs (right/deoxygenated) or body (left/oxygenated)
SA node & how many impulses?
Sinoatrial node which generates electrical impulses between 60-100/minute.
AV node
Backup for SA generates 40-60/min
Bundle of His
20-40/min
