Contain haemoglobin to carry oxygen

Fights diseases and protects the body and makes antibodies
Platelets

Functions of blood
Transport (red blood cells that carry oxygen) and protection (white blood cells)
Arteries
Thick walls, narrow lumen(gap) ,no valves and carry blood away from the heart
Veins
Thin walls, wide lumen, valves and carry blood to the heart.
Capillaries
Link arteries and veins. Walls are one cell, which allows for passage of materials.
Cardiac muscle
The muscle in the heart that never tires
Four chambers of the heart:
Right and left atria, right and left ventricles.
Left ventricle:
Has a thick wall because it pumps blood all a around the body.
Normal body temperature:
37 degrees Celsius.
Average resting heart rate:
70 bpm
Heart disease is prevented by:
Having a good diet, don’t smoke, regular exercise and avoiding stress.
