Circulation Flashcards
What is the shape of the White blood cell
The White blood cell is round
What is the shape of the Red blood cell
The Red Blood cell looks like a crushed circle
What are the 2 circulation systems?
- Systemic circulation- Heart -> body
- Pulmonary circulation- Heart -> lungs
What are the 3 layers of a Blood cell
- Tunica Intima- inner layer
- Tunica Media- Middle layer
- Tunica adventita- outer layer
What is the Tunica intima layer
The Tunica Intima layer in the inner layer
What is the Tunica Media layer
The Tunica Media is the Middle layer
What is the Tunica Adventitia
The Tunica Adventitia is the outer layer
Where does the Systemic circulation bring the blood
The Systemic circulation brings blood from heart to the body
Where does the Pulmonary circulation bring the blood
The Pulmonary circulation brings blood from the heart to the lungs
What is the pathway for Oxygenated blood
Oxygenated blood
Lungs-> Heart-> Pulmonary veins-> Left Atrium-> Left Ventricle-> Aorta-> body
What is the pathway for Deoxygenated blood
deoxygenated blood
Superior vena cava-> Right Atrium-> Right Ventricle-> Pulmonary Artery-> Lungs
what is the largest Vein and the largest Artery
The largest Vein is the Superior Vena Cava, the largest Artery is the Aorta
What are the properties of Arteries
The arteries receive blood from the ventricles and passes it to the capillaries.
No valves and thick Tunica media, o2 rich, 3 layers, and high Blood Pressure
What are the properties of Capillaries
Capillaries transport blood throughout the body to all living cells.
Consists of only on thin layer of Endothelium and narrow lumen, 1 thin layer and low Blood Pressure
What are the properties of
Veins transport deoxygenated blood back to the heart.
Valves prevent backflow, o2 poor, 3 layers, low Blood Pressure, and valves
The heart is Unique because it is Myogenic, what does myogenic mean
Myogenic is when The muscle beats on it own
SA node (Sinoatrial node) properties
The SA node is the hearts pacemaker, it is located on the upper portion of the Right atrium
Where is the bundle of his
The bundle of his is in the heart septum, impulse signals travel through it
What is an Embolus
An embolus is a blood clot
What is an Varicose Vein
A Varicose vein is a fault caused by the veins
What is a Murmur
A murmur is a fault caused by the heart
what is an ECG’s purpose (Electrocardiogram)
The ECG records the hearts rhythm
What does the ECG diagram represent
P: Atria Contract
Q,R,S: Ventricle Contract + atria relax
T: Ventricle Relax
what does Diastolic mean
Diastolic means something relaxs
What does Systole mean
Systole means something contracts
What is a normal Blood Pressure
A normal Blood Pressure is 120/80
What is a High Blood Pressure
A high Blood Pressure is 140/90
