Circular Motion Flashcards
Define velocity in terms of circular motion:
v = 2pir/T
Define 1 radian:
One radian is the angle subtended at the centre of the circle by an arc length equal to the circle’s radius
Define angular velocity:
Rate of change of angle
Angular velocity equation:
w= 2pi/ T
OR
w=2pif
(where w = omega)
Define centripetal force:
A centripetal force is a resultant force directed towards the centre of a circle and acts perpendicular to the direction of motion
What are the conditions for circular motion?
For an object to move in a circle at a constant speed or in uniform motion, the centripetal force, F, must be perpendicular to the direction of motion and acting towards the centre of the circle
