Circular Motion Flashcards
Derive centripetal acceleration in Circular motion.
s/r = ∆V/v (s=v∆t)
v∆t/r = ∆V/v
v/r² = ∆V/∆t
a = v² /r
How do you convert degrees to radians?
Multiply by 2π/360
How do you convert radians to degrees?
Multiply by 360/2π
What is angular velocity?
The angle that an object rotates through per second
What is the equation for angular velocity?
Angular velocity = angular displacement/ time
ω (rads) = θ (°)/t (s)
What is the equation for linear speed?
V = ωr
Derive T, time period for a complete revolution in seconds.
ω = 2πf
f = ω/2π (f = 1/T)
1/T = ω/2π
T = 2π/ω
What is Centripetal force?
A force acting towards the centre of a circle
Using F = ma, what two equations can you use to find the resultant force?
F = Mv² /r and F = Mrω²
If a car is going around a rollercoaster loop, where is the largest reaction force?
At the bottom as there is both Tension + Weight pulling the car down.
