Circulaltory Flashcards
5 functions of the circulatory system:
- Circulate blood throughout the entire body
- Transport of oxygen to cells
- Transport of CO2 away from cells
- Movement of immune system components
- Transport of endocrine gland secretions
Types of Circulatory System
- Open circulatory system
- Close circulatory system
Types of Circulatory System
Blood flows freely through cavities since there are no vessels to conduct blood
Open Circulatory System
Types of Circulatory System
The blood flows through the arteries and veins connected together by capillary
Closed Circulatory System
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM OF ANIMALS
Organisms which have a two-cell layer covering, get their supply of gases and excrete wastes through DIFFUSION.
Simple Organism
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM OF ANIMALS
Division of Circulatory System (2)
- Pulmonary Circulation
- Systemic Circulation
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM OF ANIMALS
- blood is distributed to the tissues and other systems of body.
Systemic Circulation
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM OF ANIMALS
Division of Circulatory System
- blood flows between the heart and lungs to become oxygenated
Pulmonary Circulation
It works as a pump to move the blood round the body.
Heart
Heart
It has four chambers:
- two atria (upper champers
- two vetricles (lower chambers)
Vein
Vena Cava
- superior
- interior
These are tubes or channels that carry blood throughout our body
Blood Vessels
Three types of blood vessels:
- Artery
- Capillary
- Vein
Three tyoes of blood vessels:
It has the thickest wall of all three,, allowing it to withstand the high pressure created by the heart.
Artery
