9
Q

What will happen to the voltage in a PARALLEL circuit?

A

treat each loop separately = one bulb on the loop = voltage doesn’t share. More than one bulb = voltage does share.

Q

What is the heating effect?

A

*As current flows through a wire, the electrons collide with the ions.
*This causes friction generating waste heat.
*Now its heating up the ions start to vibrate.
*This causes the resistance to increase because the electrons now struggle to flow through.

Q

What is the stripy wire?

A

Earth wire
It attaches the casing to the Earth. If there is a fault instead of the casing becoming live the current flows to Earth.

Q

What are some safety features in circuits?

A

Earth wire- discharges current into the earth
Fuses – melt when too much current flows through – prevents electrical fires. Must be attached to the live wire.
Circuit breakers (trip switch) – break the circuit to an entire room for safety. Can be flicked back on.

17
Q

What is power?

A

How much energy changes in 1 second.
Watts.

18
Q

What is Work Done (energy transferred)

A

How much energy changes for the full time.
Joules.
