What are the rules for CIRCLING APPROACHES and descent below MDA?
Terminal AU-24 (4.14)
A
1 The aircraft remains WITHIN the
CIRCLING AREA and
2 Maintains a VISIBILITY along the
intended flight path, NOT LESS
THAN the minimum specified for
circling
3 Maintains VISUAL CONTACT with
the landing runway environment, and
either
4 In DAYLIGHT only, maintains visual contact with obstacles along the flight path and a OBSTACLE CLEARANCE not less than the minimum for the aircraft category (CAT A/B 300ft) until the aircraft is aligned with the landing runway
5 By DAY or NIGHT, at not less than the MDA, intercepts a position on the DOWNWIND, BASE, or FINAL leg of the landing pattern, and can make a descent and landing within the normal rates of the aircraft, and maintaining obstacle clearance along the flight path not less than the minimum for the aircraft performance category until the aircraft is aligned with the centreline.
