Meeting basic needs of individuals:

What are…Works of Justice?
Removing roots causes to improve structures
- expand housing
- promote peace
- support environment protection laws
Culture of Death
A society that does not hold human life as sacred in any of its stages. Creates structures of sin that allow human life to be attacked when it is most vulnerable.
Culture of Life
A society that holds all life as sacred, from conception to natural death. These kinds of societies build social structures that protect and defend human life in all its stages.
Reparation
Making amends for something one did wrong that caused harm to another person or led to loss.
Restitution
Making amends with someone who was previously harmed by injustice, or returning or replacing what rightfully belongs to another.
Calumny
Ruining the reputation of another person by lying or spreading rumors. Also called slander. A sin against the 8th Commandment.
Detraction
Unnecessarily revealing something about someone that is true but harmful to their reputation. Also a sin against the 8th Commandment.
