Circle Motion Flashcards
1
Q
Centripetal Force
A
The net constant force which causes an object to move in a circular path. The force is: always directed towards the centre. Perpendicular to the velocity.
2
Q
Rpm to rads per second
A
Multiply rpm by 2pi/60
3
Q
How an acceleration at constant speed be possible
A
T velocity is a vector quantity and magnitude remains the same, however the changes. The centralpetalacceleration changes the direction.
4
Q
Why does the speed of an object in circular motion not change?
A
The net force is directed perpendicular to the direction of motion, therefore there is no work done by this force and therefore no change in the speed.
