inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis and susceptible organisms bacteriocidal
Cipro side effects
Nausea vomiting diarrhea fatigue confusion insomnia
Cipro nursing implications
Assess for infection culture and sensitivity
Assess for anaphylaxis including rash itching laryngeal edema and wheezing
Monitor bowel function
Cipro effects on labs
May increase AST, a LT, LVH, Bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase and may effect glucose
Will increase theophylline levels and Coumadin levels
Cipro teaching
Take as directed finish full treatment
Maintain 1500 to 2000 mL of fluid intake
use sunscreen for photosensitivity
Signs and symptoms of superinfection are; black furry tongue, vaginal itching or discharge, loose or foul-smelling stool
Cipro contraindication
Hypersensitivity
