What is the definition of cinematography?

What is chiaroscuro?
A lighting technique that uses strong contrast between light and dark, popularised by Film Noir
What are the two types of Colour?
Saturated
Desaturated
What are the three elements of Colour?
Hue

What is a Static Shot?
Where the camera has a strict, fixed position meaning there is no camera movement.
What is a pan shot?
When the camera swivels left or right without moving its position
What is a whip pan?
A very quick panning motion
What is a tilt?
When the camera moves up or down without leaving its fixed position
What is a push in?
When the camera physically moves closer to its subject
What is a pull out?
When the camera physically moves away from its subject
What is a zoom?
“Zooming in” on a subject without moving the camera
What is a dolly zoom?
When the camera moves and zooms at the same time but in opposite ways (e.g. zoom in and pull out)
What is a tracking shot?
When the camera physically moves with a subject, usually following it.
What is a trucking shot?
When the camera moves left or right, irrelevant of its subject.
