Purpose of the exam practice kits
Exam Practice Kits are online quizzes that students can take once they have reviewed each chapter of the study text.
They are designed to be used alongside the study text for an OT exam.
They test the knowledge learned from each chapter of the study text/ tuition videos.
10 revision-style questions to test and reinforce the knowledge gained from the recent studying of the chapter that the student has done
5 exam-style questions based on the knowledge that the student has recently learned. These questions are in an exam style rather than a learning style and help to prepare the student for exam-style questions throughout their learning
After answering each question, the student will be told whether they have answered correctly or not and will be shown the correct answer and a breakdown explaining the correct solution.
Purpose of the OT mock exams
Tests a student’s understanding of the exam topics to prepare them for the exam and test if they are ready to take the exam.
The mocks include exam-style questions that will test their knowledge and understanding under exam conditions.
The 5 mocks will cover the entire CIMA syllabus.
The mock exams are undertaken as online quizzes from the student’s account.
Included as standard on all OT courses. Located in the revision phase of the course.
They are available in 2 formats. Revision style and exam style.
The revision style is untimed and presents the student with the solution after each question as well as showing them whether they answered correctly. The mock is not timed so they get as much time as they need with the exam.
The exam-style is timed and does not show the student the solution or whether they answered correctly after each question. Instead, they are shown their percentage score at the end of the mock once they have completed all the questions. This is a reflection of exam day conditions. Students can review questions at the end of the exam.
How many questions are there for an OT exam, and how long are the exams?
All CIMA Certificate Level exams are 2 hours long. In BA1, BA2 and BA3, you’ll have to answer 60 questions, whilst in BA4 you’ll have 85 questions to answer.
Professional level objective tests (operational, management and strategic) are all 90 minutes long, and in that time, you’ll have to answer 60 questions.
OT exams in a nutshell
Students will usually need to sit 4 objective test exams at teh certificate level and 3 objective test exams for each professional level (operational, management and strategic levels).
The certificate pillar covers the Ba1, Ba2, Ba3 and Ba4 objective test exams. Student shave 2 hours to complete the exam. Ba1, 2 and 3 contains 60 questions and Ba4 contains 85 questions.
The objective test exams examine the E, P and F pillar theory at the professional level and consist of 60 questions. The question formats include multiple choice, select all, drag and drop, and calculate questions. Students have 90 minutes to complete the exam.
The exams can be sat at home online or at a pearson test centre. The exams can be booked wherever there is a slot available.
Students will need to bring two forms of ID to the exam as well as a CIMA approved calculator for some exams.
How is an OT exam marked?
Students will be awarded a scaled score between 0 and 150. The pass mark is set at 100. The scaling criteria for each exam will be set differently as different content of differing difficulties is being examined. This system aims to ‘ensure all candidates receive a score that is comparable across multiple versions of the same exam taken at different times.’
Student’s won’t be able to see what score each question is worth.
What is the Passing score for OT exams?
Objective test exams are marked out of a scaled score of 150. Students must get a scaled score of at least 100/150 to pass.
What is the purpose of the pass guarantee?
The pass guarantee is available for our premium professional qualification courses.
If the student fails their exam, but they have fully completed the course content, we will give them access to all of the content for as long as they need to pass the exam free of charge.
This ensures the student will have study materials available until they pass, provided they have put in sufficient effort to the course during the access period.
Students can obtain the pass guarantee by:
Objective Test courses
Must have completed the pass guarantee form within 6 months of purchase to evidence completion of the study text or tuition videos, exam practice kits and mock exams
Case Study Courses

They will need to complete and submit the pass guarantee online form and our downloadable form. These will ask you to list the key learning points for each material.
The form must be submitted the week after the exam has been taken.
What is the purpose of the 100 Question Videos Series?
Contains 100 exam-style questions with accompanying videos in which a tutor will explain how to approach each question and what may have tripped students up. They help students to get find exactly what the question is asking to improve exam technique and speed.
The videos are around 30 minutes long per chapter.

What is the purpose of tutor support?
Tutors answer any questions that students have to ensure that students have a full understanding of each topic in preparation for their exam.
Students post questions on Google Classrooms, and tutors respond to these questions. Other students will be able to see their answers and learn from this.
Out tutors should aim to respond to queries in 1 working day.
What is the purpose of the revision notes?
The revision notes are a condensed version of the study text to act as a reminder of the key information to save students much needed time when recapping the theory. The notes include all key topics and definitions but exclude examples ot help to student rejog their memory more quickly.
Helps students revise quickly in the lead up to the exam.
The revision note chapters align with the study text and tuition videos, so students can easily refer back to topics in the full content if more detail is needed.
What is the recommended process for preparing for an OT exam?
Students should begin their studies by either reading through the study texts or watching the tuition videos, which contain all the theory knowledge needed for the exam. They should test their knowledge after each chapter/ video using the exam practice kits, which are based on each chapter of the study text.
The question debriefs will give them the opportunity to practise more questions and the videos will show them how each one should be approached.
Once they have completed these sections of the course, they should practise the full-length mock exams, which test every area of the syllabus.
In the days leading up to the exam, the revision notes should be used as a quick way to refresh their memory of the syllabus.
Students can use the Discussion Hub to ask tutors any questions they may have about the theory.
They can also get in touch with the course mentor via email about their study plans and one-to-one calls are available to let them know everything they need to do to pass the exam.
