Q

What is the current like in parallel?

A

There is more than one route round for the electrons - so the current gets split up between the different routes.

Q

What is the sentence about amps and volts in parallel and series?

A

Amps in series stay the same, amps in parallel change. Volts are the opposite.

17
Q

What is a battery?

A

An electrical converter. It converts chemical potential energy into electrical energy.

18
Q

What is a battery?

A

An electrical converter. It converts chemical potential energy into electrical energy.

19
Q

Where is the neutrons located in an atom?

A

In the nucleus of an atom

20
Q

Where is the protons located?

A

In the nucleus of an atom

21
Q

Where are the electrons located?

A

On the shells of an atom

22
Q

What charge do neutrons have?

A

Neutral

23
Q

What charge do protons have?

A

Positive

24
Q

What charge do electrons have?

A

Negative

25
Q

When I rub a balloon on a cloth what charge will the cloth become?

A

Positive

26
Q

Why would the cloth become positive?

A

Because the balloon is taking electrons from the cloth when being rubbed which is also causing the force friction to occur. Electrons are able to jump to the balloon as the cloth is an electrical conductor, and the balloon is an electrical insulator.

27
Q

What effect would the balloon have if is placed near a thin stream of water from the tap?

A

The water would pull towards the balloon whichever way it is getting pulled.

28
Q

Label three parts in a single cell battery

A

Chemical paste, metal rod, outer case

29
Q

What direction do the arrows face on a magnet?

A

From north to south
