CI 2 Flashcards
How is nitric acid produced?
- Ammonia is oxidised
- Absorption of the resulting nitrogen oxides
What does increasing the pressure do to a reaction?
Moves the equilibrium to the side of the equation with fewer gas molecules
What happens to the equilibrium constant (Kc) when a reaction is compressed?
Kc increases
What happens to a reaction when temperature is increased?
Kc will favour the endothermic reaction as there is more energy to take
When is the composition and equilibrium constant changed in a reaction?
When reaction temperature is changed
What happens to Kc and composition when concentration or pressure is changed?
Composition may change but Kc is unchanged
What happens to composition and Kc when a catalyst is added to a reaction?
Nothing
When is rate constant (K) constant?
When temperature is constant
