Pieces of information bound together through meaning or use. Basically, a network of neurons that are used to firing together. The bigger the chunk, the more information you can access at once in one working memory slot

  1. Focus undivided attention - Limited slots in working memory
  2. Understand - Holds the underlying memory traces together. Let focused and diffused mode take turns to understand the idea
  3. Practice - Strengthens links and moves information to long term memory
