2. social relationships/support
3. a function of societal structure
What is behavioral epidemiology ?
Study of role of behavioral factors in health such as:
- consumption of junk food
- physical inactivity
- cigarette smoking
What is lifestyle in behavioral epidemiology?
Its the choice of behavioral factors that affect how we live and subsequent health outcomes.
- Behavior is often a function of social influences
- Behavior is associated with many chronic diseases.
Social and behavioral determinants often reciprocally influence one another.
For examples
Social factors such as peer pressure to smoke influences behavioral influences such as drinking or smoking after being pressures. Drinking or smoking could also influence smoking. Vise versa.
