In terms of medical intervention for pain management, what are the options?
Follow WHO analgesic ladder -Paracetamol -NSAIDs -Opiates -Adjuncts Also medications for neuropathic pain
What is TATT?
Tired all the time - an incredibly common presentation in GP land - 5-7% of all attendences.
What are the biggest causes of TATT?
Stress and recovery post illness.
Which medical conditions can present with TATT?
Anaemia and hypothyroidism, as well as depression.
A patient presents with TATT. What symptoms do we need to enquire about?
- Weight loss
- Lymphadenopathy
- Other signs of malignancy
- Neurological signs
- Changes to hair/skin/nails
- Sleep disturbance
When a patient complains of tiredness, what is important to clarify?
What do they mean by tiredness? Is it SoB on exertion, mentl exhaustion, all day or just one end of the day? Muscle weakness?
If a TATT patient complains of weight changes, what should we ask?
Is there a change to appetite? If so does it match with the change in weight?
Any problems with eating?
What do we need to ask a woman who complains of being TATT?
Menstruation - heavy, lots of blood loss, possibility of pregnancy?
