Believes that Humans are divine souls TRAPPED in a material world created by an imperfect God
Denies the Humanity of Christ
Believes in differentiation of OT (Evil God) and NT God (Good God), anything physical is evil.
Real human body but used as a shell
The Son (Jesus) is divine but was trapped in a human body.
Gnosticism
Believes Jesus only SEEMED to have a Body. Denies the humanity of Jesus. Not areal human body
The Son (Jesus) is divine and does not have a body.
Docetism
Believes the Son was a creature or a LESSER God. Denied the full divinity of the Son, Jesus was a CREATED GOD,
The Father alone is the true God.
The Son (Jesus) is divine only by adoption
Arianism
Denies the full humanity of Christ.
Believes Jesus had a DIVINE soul and HUMAN Body.
The Son (Jesus) is God, but only partly human, not full human.
Apollinarianism
Believes in one being but TWO beings inside that one being. Affirmed Christs Deity and Humanity, but DIVIDED it into two, two person
The Son (Jesus) is two seperate beings, God and Man but seperated.
Nestorianism
Believes in UNITY but confusion of natures. Created a single THIRD nature.
Third Mixed being - “GODMAN”
Eutychianism
Believes that the Son is God from Eternity.
Both FULLY Divine and Human in Nature. UNDIVIDED and UNMINGLED.

- divine but not material, the spirit is good but the body is bad.
Docetism
- divine and only “seemed” to have a body.

- divine but only a lesser God.
Apollinarianism
- divine mind in a human body or shell.
Nestorianism
- divine and human but the two are seperate/divided.
Eutychianism
- divine and human but the two are mingled.
Christian Orthodoxy
One Person Two Nature, fully human and fully divine.
