Christians beliefs about god Flashcards
Explain two Christian teachings about the Trinity.
to begin with, Christianity is a monotheistic religion meaning they believe in essentially one god but god itself is exists as three members or parts - the father, son and the holy spirit. Christians belive they are all equally God yet distinguishable
Furthermore, Christians belive that each member has a specific role to carry out. for example , as stated in the nicene creed the father is known to be the ‘creator of heaven and earth’., the son is gods incarnate who died for sins, and the holy spirit is the ‘giver of life’
Explain two Christian beliefs about the incarnation
Essentially, for Christian’s the belief about incarnation shows that Jesus was both fully God and fully human. As states in the Niceness Creed Jesus was ‘incarnate of the Virgin Mary ‘ - born of a human mother.
Furthermore, the incarnation enabled Jesus’ death to be an atoning sacfrice by dying on the cross. This meant that it covered the sins of Christian’s so they can go to heaven
Explain two Christian teachings about the Holy Spirit
Essentially, The Holy Spirit is one of three members of the Holy trinity and considered equally God.
The first appearance eof the holy spiritu in the bible was when he was on fire on the day of Pentecost and as the dove during Jesus’ baptism.
Furthermore, christians believe that the role of the holy spirits plays is to empower one another to love their neighbour and give them gifts e.g wisdom or speaking in tongues
Explain two reason why belief in the Trinity is important for Christian’s
To begin with, the trinity plays a vital role for Christian’s as it paves the way for the Christian salvation. It is through God incarnation that Jesus’ death was like an atoning sacrifice for Christian’s so in the end they can go to heaven. As stated in the Niceness creed ‘For our sake he was sacrificed
Furthermore, Christian beleif in the trinity means that they can still receiver the power and englihtenment of the holy spiritu to guide and inspire them in their daily lives
