What is a denomination?
A distinct group within the Christian faith, with its own organisation and traditions
What does monotheistic mean?
A belief in one god
What is the nature of god?
A belief that god is universal and creates and sustains everything
What does orthodox mean?
A branch of Christianity practised mainly in Eastern Europe
What is prayer?
A form of communication with god
What does holy mean?
Separate and set apart for a special purpose by god.
What does Protestant mean?
A branch of Christianity formed generally as a result of the reformation.
What is the trinity?
The belief that there are three persons in one God. The father, the son and the Holy Spirit, are separate but are also one being.
What is ascension?
The event 40 days after the resurrection when Jesus returned to God the Father in heaven.
What is blasphemy?
A religious offence which includes claiming to be God.
What is the crucifixion?
The roman method of execution by which criminals were fixed to a cross.
What is incarnation?
Becoming flesh; taking human form.
What is resurrection?
Rising from the dead. Or Jesus rising from the dead on Easter Sunday.
What is sin?
Any action orthought that separates human from God; behaviour which against God’s laws and wishes against principles of morality.
What is heaven?
A state of eternal happiness in the presence of God; the place of eternal peace ruled over by God.
