Who is God the Father?
Creator of heaven and earth. He is described as the transcendent part of God. The title father is a mark of respect for God and is used by Jesus
Who is God the son?
Believed Jesus to be the incarnation of God in human form. He is Devine and human and is described as the immanent and personal part of God, who understands human suffering. He is a model for christians to follow his example
Who is God the Holy Spirit?
It’s the presence of God in the world. It is the immanent yet impersonal part of God. Some feel the spirit guides them personally in being good Christians
What does Genesis 1 say?
God created everything in six days ( he rested on the seventh). Day 1 light and dark was created; Day 2 the sky; Day 3 oceans, lands and plants; Day 4 the sun, moon and stars; Day 5 the creatures of water and sky; Day 6 the land animals and people
What is a liberalist?
A Christian who views Genesis as more of a parable, or a symbolic description. They acknowledge God as the creator but are more open to scientific theories
What do liberalist believe about genesis?
It helps catholics understand the natures of God
What does genesis 2 tell us?
How humans were created and how they lived. It says how God made humans in his image, how humans disobeyed God and how original sin was created
What is a literalist?
A Christian who takes the story of creation literally. They believe it took six days and they are descendants of Adam and Eve
What do liberalists think of Genesis 2?
They believe is a myth but with symbolic description to how humans are supposed to be stewards to the world. They are more open to interpretation
What’s stewardship?
God making humans to take care of the world
How did evil enter the world?
As a result of Adam and Eve giving into temptation in the Garden of Eden
What is free will?
God gave humans free will, so it’s up to them to choose wether they perform evil deeds or not
What are the two types of evil?
Moral and natural
What’s moral evil?
“Human made “ evil
E.g. murder, war, rape, torture
The person causing evil is able to make a choice about what’s right and wrong
What’s natural evil?
Evil caused by world in which we live
E.g. disease, floods, earthquakes and hurricanes
May be caused by human interference
Why does evil cause people to question their faith?
If God is omnibenevolent and omnipotent then why does evil exist?
What is life after death?
That the body bodies but the soul can live on
What is heaven?
A paradise where you’ll spend eternity with God ( as long as you believe in Jesus and have followed his teachings )
What is hell?
Torture and pain where nonbelievers and those you who live bad lives end up
What is purgatory?
Sins are punished and the person must “ undergo purification” before the soul can move on to heaven
What is the Last Judgement?
Those God finds acceptable will enter heaven, the rest go to hell ( sheep and goats )
What is the Second coming?
That’s Jesus will resurrect again

Straight after a person dies their actions will be judged and they’ll go to heaven or hell straight away

- Shows their is life after death and it is less frightening
- Shows how powerful God is
- Further proof Jesus is the son of God

Jesus returning to heaven to be with God 40 days after he rose from the dead.
Why is the ascension Important to Christians?
- It shows how humans have a place with God
- Shows Jesus power
Why did Jesus die?
To redeem humans from original sin.

What do Christian’s believe they must do to go to heaven?
Live a Christian life ( the bible provides Christian’s with guidance)
What is liturgical worship?
Services follow set patterns written by the church ( e.g. mass services including the Eucharist and prayers like the Lords Prayer )
What is non liturgical worship?
Unstructured forms of worship ( e.g. singing or chanting in native tongues ) it is a free-er way of praying

- Jesus was baptised so we follow I his example

What is a description of all sacraments?
Baptism: entry of the church
Confirmation: renew vows made at baptism to take control of your own faith
Reconciliation: confession/ resolution of sins
Anointing of the sick: renews faith and strength to cope with illness and accept suffering
Matrimony: god blessing a couple as they vow to love one another and have a family
Holy orders: ordination of priests, deacons and bishops
Eucharist: recovering the body and blood of christ
What are the 3 parts of a Catholic funeral?
Vigil prayers: aims to help family prepare to say goodbye
Funeral liturgy: holy communion ( requiem mass) to pray for the soul of the deceased. Holy water is sprinkled on coffin to remember baptism.
Committal: a short ceremony that happens at the cemetery or crematorium as the body goes back to the earth.

Why is reconciliation important?
-Christina’s believe in justice ( all people are equal
-“ blessed are the peace makers”
- reconciliation is needed between one another, just as Jesus bought god and human kind together through the atonement
What is evangelism?
Spreading the Christian message with the aim of converting people.
Why should Christina’s evangelise?
- (Mark) Jesus told his disciples to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”.
- believe it helps people find their real purpose and find salvation
What are different types of evangelism?
Gideon’s distribute copies of the bible
