Omnipotent
Unlimited power of God
Oneness of god
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth…” -genesis
“In the beginning was the word, and the word was with god”
Omnibenevolence
“For God so loved the world, He gave his one and only son.”
Two ways the trinity impacts Christian’s today:
- follow the example of the son, follow his teachings such as love thy neighbour and take meanings from his parables-apply it to everyday life.
- the Holy Spirit is within them, look after themselves and don’t indulge in harmful things such as drugs or smoking.
The Holy Spirit
“This helper is the Holy Spirit whom the father would send in my name “
God the father
“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made”
The son
“This is my son whom I am well pleased” “Look, the Lamb of God”
Give three beliefs about creation:
- God is the only creator
- God existed before the he created
- the world was planned and is sustained by god
- god blessed creation, meaning all creation is holy
- god created everything in heaven and on earth in six days
- god rested on the seventh day
God created all
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”
God made is in his image
“He created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him.”
Incarnation
“The word became flesh and made his dwelling amongst us”
What ways does incarnation impact Christians today?
- Through the incarnation of Jesus, god began salvationing. This made it possible for humans to have a full relationship with him and go to heaven.
- through becoming incarnate, God came closer to human understanding. As a result humans have a closer relationship with god and are able to communicate better
What unusual events occurred due to the death of Jesus?
- darkness descended on the region although it was 12:00
- there was an earthquake and people rose from the dead. This was a symbol that those who believed in Jesus would be brought a new life
- the curtain hanging in the temple at Jerusalem was torn from top to bottom. The curtain, torn from top, suggests it was torn by god as a symbol that the path to him was open. Jesus’ sacrifice had removed the barrier to him
Crucifixion quotes:
“My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”- a feeling of betrayal, having to die
“Surely this man was the son of god” a guard next to Jesus at the time of his death.
What does resurrection teach Christian’s?
Teaches them that there is life after death, is a comforting factor
Is evidence of gods omnipotence as well as omnibenevolence in giving us life after death
Story of doubting Thomas(resurrection):
The disciple Thomas would not believe that Jesus was alive until he felt the wounds of his crucifiction.
“Do not be faithless any longer, believe!”
Teaches Christian’s to believe in god even though they may not see him
Quote for ascension
“After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven”
