Don’t- Pentecostal, Quaker, Baptist
Reasons for infant baptism
During Jesus’s baptism, a dove descended which is believed to symbolise the spirit of God- this reassures parents that their child will grow under the presence and protection of God
Baptism offers salvation and cleanses an infant’s soul from original evil, known to be the consequences of Adam and Eves’ actions- allows them to be free of sin
Reasons against infant baptism
The child is too young to decide whether they want to commit to a religion, dont fully understand the requirements that come with religion and are too young- should choose whether to commit when they are older
Should not force religion onto someone, one must discover religion themselves
Quotes for Baptism
‘Repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins’
‘You are my son, today i have become your father’
Baptism is a ‘pledge of clear conscience towards God, it saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ’
Significance of the Eucharist
It allows Christians to commemorate and remember Jesus, seen as a way of showing appreciation to Jesus for all of his good deeds.
Drink wine to symbolise Jesus’ blood and eat bread to symbolise his body- this way, Christians believe Jesus is a part of them and their lives and they can constantly be reminded of him, keeps their faith strong
Quote for the Eucharist
‘This is my body given for you, do this in memory of me’
