  • City divided into 2 zones, based on damage
  • REDZONE= worst affected, liquefaction.
  • The government agreed to buy 5000 of worse affected insured properties/land.
  • GREENZONE= 100,000 homes located here, likely to be rebuilt
  • Reduce impact of liquefaction = increase foundation strength, reinforce with ion stone columns, but not enough to prevent subsidence
  • International aid via money = $6-7 million
