What is motor learning?
Applying skills to have the ability to complete a task
Cognitive Stage of Motor learning:
basic understanding of how to perform a task
Associative Stage of Motor learning:
Awareness
Refine skills, fewer errors, concepts
Autonomous Stage of Motor learning:
Skills are automatic, “Just do”, movements are seamless
Stability/balance
Stopping, bending, twisting
Locomotion/travelling
Run, jump, leap, skip
Manipulation/object control
Throw, catch, strike, dribble
Fundamental Movement skills
Basis of all physical movement skills
Skill Transferability
Apply or transfer skills learned in one activity to another activity or sport. Specialization is bad since no other skills are being learned. Applying different sports to your sport is important
Preparation Phase
Body preparing to do a skill,
Execution Phase
Generating momentum (Correct force at critical moment)
Follow-Through Phase
Key to accuracy and force production
