Workgroup
Once set up allows all computers on the same IP and subnet address to communicate and share resources.
How to create a workgroup
1) configure all devices in the workgroup to have the same IP address range unless it’s done automatically
2) Confirm each device has a unique name
3) confirm each device is in the same workgroup
Domain setup
system properties>change settings>network ID> select this computer is part of a business network and hit next>confirm my company uses a network with a domain and next>next>enter username, password, and domain name and next>ok
Network Shares
A shared folder or drive that can be accessed by other computers on the network.
How to share a folder
control panel>network and sharing center>down arrow next to file sharing>Turn on file sharing

Mapped drive letters
Allows you to map network drives and folders so they show up just like any other file or drive on your computer.
How to map drive letters
Network view in windows explorer>right click shared folder>mapnetwork drive>select a letter>click reconnect at login box if you want to use it everytime you connect>click connect using different credentials box if you want to use a different username/password to connect to the shared resource>finish
Administrative shares
hidden shares that can only be seen by authorized accounts.
VPN
Virtual Private Network
Creates a secure tunnel over the public internet between two computers.
Dial Up
A Connection between two computers via phone lines.
Proxy settings
Used to create an intermediary between a network client and the destination of the request.
