Chitest Flashcards
What is a null hypothesis, what do you do with it
Because In science it’s almost impossible to prove something true, instead we prove a hypothesis by proving that all the alternatives are wrong
Hypothesis that is tested, either rejected or fail to be rejected
What is the alternate hypothesis
The hypothesis of difference
You never accept it
And it is not proven by the rejection of the null hypothesis
What is a test statistic
A numerical quantity, computed from the data of a sample in reaching a decision on whether to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis
What is a pedigree
A family tree that describes the interrelationships of parents and children accros à générations
Inheritance of a trait can be traced and described using pedigrees
How are male and females differentiate in pedigrees
Male are squares and females are circles
- matings are represented by the line between two individuals
What do colours represent in a pedigree
Different phenotypes
How do you determine if a trait is sex linked or not
If the trait is expressed more in males than in females ; most likely sex linked
If a trait is expressed equally in males and females; most likely autosomal
