Chinese Budhism Flashcards
What is karma?
Deeds and actions. What an individual speaks and thinks. If an individual has good thoughts he has good Karma.
What are the concepts of Chinese Budhism?
Karma, samsara, avidya, bodhi, enlightenment, and nirvana.
What is Samsara?
Cause and effect. This is the cause of Karma. Speaking has an effect called Samsara.
What is Avidya?
Fundamental ignorance. Lack of knowledge may cause you suffering.
What is Chinese Buddhism summarized?
Enlightenment helps you with lack of knowledge. Try not to suffer by practicing Bhodi. Karma is the root of Chinese Budhism. Samsara is the cause of that. Nirvana helps you try to escape the effect of your actions. You need to escape and be emancipated from Karma. The goal is enlightenment but it is rarely reached. Life is a roller coaster ride sending you in wrong directions because of Karma.
Another answer for what Chinese Buddhism is Chinese thought. In general it is thought alone. It is moral courage and virtue and comes with great respect. It is China’s social order that says individual behavior maintains social order when everyone behaves the way they should. It expresses the ability to understand inner qualities and the acceptance of misfortune. Chinese Buddhism shows interest in the “otherworldly”. If there is an afterlife then you believe in the concepts of Chinese Buddhism. If you reach Nirvana and stay there then there must be a final place.
