CCP and how China is governed
A
- ruled under Xi Jingping, democratic dictatorship, leader of CCP party
- under him is the Politburo Standing Committee, hold highly secretive meetings, main group controlling China
- under them National Party Congress, made of 70% CCP members, also known as rubber stamp parliament
- recently the party agreed to end the two term time limit on being leader, allowing the president to continue ruling without a time limit

- 8 other parties exist allowing the CCP to claim they aren’t a one party state
- village elections allow the villagers to elect non CCP members although the leader elected is overseen by a CCP official

human rights, can not criticise CCP
A
- supporters of Falun Gong, a spiritual movement, have been sent to re-education camps as the CCP are paranoid about the popularity of the subject and how its ideas are spreading
- the government have banned all newspapers and radio stations from commenting on political issues
- they also employ online trolls called the 50 cent party to talk positively about the CCP on social media and stopping negative controversy
- the CCP continue to crack down on protestors, like Liu Xiabobo who wrote a statement calling for political and human rights and an end to one-party rule, he was sentenced to 11 years in jail and died during his time

improving political rights
A
- people are now allowed to protest against land seizures, lack of internet freedom and the damaging environmental effects of China’s economic growth
- there has been a rise in compensation given by the CCP to citizens for judicial mistreatment
