- Dynasties are ruling families that control a country for a long period. they affected China by creating laws, expanding territory, and increasing economy.

- Confucianism is focused on morality and respect. China used its teaching to guide rulers, promote education.

- Buddhism emphasizes the 4 noble truths, the Eightfold Path, meditation, and achieving Nirvana. It teaches the importance of overcoming suffering and desires.

- The one child policy restricted most families to having one child, reasons were: limit on family size, economic concerns, resource management, social and political stability.

- Tank man is someone who was a protester and stood in front of tanks and became a symbol of defiance during the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989 Beijing. The Tiananmen square massacre was a tragic even in modern Chinese history including violent protests.

How has china been able to remain communist yet succeeded economically?

- China has been able to remain communist while reaching an achieving economic success over the past few decades. Their economy has grown a lot from trading with other countries, building factories, all their profits go back to their economy Some examples: economic reforms under Deng Xiaoping, state capitalism and market mechanisms, authoritarian political control, export-oriented growth and global integration, investment infrastructure.

Who is the Dalai Lama and why does he not live in Tibet?

- The Dalai Lama is the leader of Tibetan Buddhism and, historically, the political ,leader of Tibet. The Dalai Lama does not live in Tibet because of the Chinese government’s occupation of Tibet and the 1959 Tibetan Uprising.
