What is pyloric stenosis?
Narrowing of the opening from the stomach to the first part of the small intestine due to hypertrophy of the muscle
How does pyloric stenosis present?
Severe projectile non-bilious vomiting
When does pyloric stenosis present?
~ 6 weeks
What is intussusception?
A part of the intestine invaginates (folds into) into another section of intestine, often causing an obstruction
How does intussusception present?
Periodic nausea and vomiting (which is sometimes bilious)
Pulling legs to the chest area
Intermittent moderate to severe cramping abdominal pain
Rectal bleeding - “red currant jelly” stool
What pattern of inheritance is cystic fibrosis?
Autosomal recessive
How might cystic fibrosis present?
Chronic respiratory problems Nasal polyps Pneumonia Bulky stools Poor weight gain
