team meeting with teachers, parent interviews, medical exam, hearing test, vision test, classroom management techniques, help classes, remedial reading or math services, in school counseling, progress reports, disciplinary action, change of program, consolidation of program, referral to child protective services, informal assessment techniques, screening
Why is it important to rule out vision, hearing, medical, economic, cultural, and environmental issues during the pre-referral process?
indications of visual or hearing difficulties, prescribed medication that may have an effect on the child’s behavior or medical conditions in need of attention or that could be contributing to the child’s present difficulties.
